Committees are where the work of the legislature is done. Committees are organized by subject and take testimony on bills proposed to become laws.
Testify at a Committee Hearing:
Stating your support or objection to proposed legislation is powerful. You can testify in person, submit a statement of support or opposition to be read into the record, or simply note your support or opposition for the official record. For Guidelines, go to bit.ly/MILeg_CommitteeTestify
Bills are introduced nearly every day in the House and Senate. Bills are voted on to become law only if they are first voted out of committee. You can follow a bill from its introduction, to its committee testimony, to its vote on the floor by registering as a user at the “Follow a Bill” link. You can then select the bills you would like to follow.
